Information on technical sprays

Technical sprays are specialised aerosol products used for maintenance, care, cleaning, lubrication, protection, or assembly. They are used in industry, skilled trades, workshops, households, and many technical applications to treat surfaces and components precisely.

Depending on the product, technical sprays are suitable for cleaning, degreasing, lubricating, loosening, protecting, maintaining, insulating, or preserving. Typical applications include the maintenance of machines, tools, vehicle parts, electrical contacts, metal surfaces, plastic components, or moving parts.

Common types of technical sprays include cleaning sprays, contact sprays, silicone sprays, PTFE sprays, rust removers, lubricating oil sprays, zinc sprays, corrosion protection sprays, adhesive removers, and compressed-air sprays. The appropriate product depends on the material, application, and required function.

Depending on the spray, they may be suitable for materials such as metal, plastic, rubber, glass, ceramic, painted surfaces, or electrical components. As not every spray is suitable for every material, the product information should be checked before use, and sensitive surfaces should be tested on an inconspicuous area.

Depending on the application, the surface should be clean, dry, and free from coarse dirt. The spray should be applied evenly from a suitable distance. Good ventilation, compliance with safety and hazard instructions, and use within the product’s intended application are also important.

Technical sprays should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place and protected from direct sunlight and heat sources. As aerosol cans are pressurised, they must not be exposed to high temperatures or damaged. After use, the can should be securely closed and kept out of the reach of children.
