Information about instant adhesives
Instant adhesive is suitable for many materials, including plastic, metal, rubber, ceramic, porcelain, wood, leather, and many other smooth or slightly porous surfaces. Depending on the application, a suitable specialised adhesive should be selected, for example for flexible materials, plastics, or particularly small bonding areas.
Instant adhesive usually begins to bond within a few seconds. The exact curing time depends on the material, the amount of adhesive, humidity, and temperature. To ensure a strong bond, the bonded area should not be moved for several minutes after joining. Full final strength is generally achieved after a longer curing period.
Once cured, many instant adhesives are resistant to moisture and can also withstand moderate temperatures. However, the exact water and temperature resistance depends on the specific product. For outdoor applications, humid environments, or exposure to high temperatures, a specially formulated adhesive designed for these conditions is recommended.
Instant adhesive should not be forcibly pulled off the skin. Warm soapy water and gentle rubbing often help to gradually loosen the adhesive. A suitable adhesive remover can be used on resistant surfaces. Care should be taken with clothing, as instant adhesive can permanently damage fibres. Before cleaning, always test the method on an inconspicuous area.
Common reasons include dirty, greasy, damp, or poorly fitting surfaces. Using too much adhesive can also reduce bond strength, as instant adhesive works best in thin layers. For optimal results, the bonding surfaces should be clean, dry, and fit together as precisely as possible.
Instant adhesive should be stored tightly sealed in a cool, dry place and protected from direct sunlight. After use, the applicator tip should be kept clean, and the tube or bottle should be resealed immediately. This helps the adhesive remain usable for longer and prevents it from drying out prematurely.
