Information on Single-Sided Adhesive Tapes
Single-sided technical adhesive tapes consist of a backing material coated with adhesive on one side only. They are used for masking, securing, bundling, protecting, sealing, insulating, or marking and, depending on the design, are suitable for a wide range of applications.
Single-sided adhesive tapes are used in many areas, including industry, skilled trades, electrical engineering, construction, assembly, automotive engineering, and packaging. They are suitable for applications such as insulating cables, sealing joints, protecting surfaces, securing components, and temporary masking.
Depending on the type of tape, they adhere to materials such as metal, plastic, glass, wood, rubber, paper, cardboard, painted surfaces, and textiles. To ensure reliable adhesion, the surfaces should be clean, dry, and free of dust and grease.
Many single-sided technical adhesive tapes are resistant to moisture, UV radiation, or high temperatures. The exact level of resistance depends on the backing material and adhesive system used. For outdoor applications, high temperatures, or humid environments, a specially designated adhesive tape suitable for these conditions should be selected.
The surface should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. The adhesive tape should then be applied without tension and pressed down firmly and evenly. This ensures optimal contact between the adhesive and the surface. Depending on the product, full bond strength may only be achieved after a certain period of time.
