Bonded Joint

Bonded joints enable fast assembly of bearings, shafts, and bushings by compensating for gaps and penetrating material irregularities, making additional securing elements unnecessary.

Ideal for ball, roller, and plain bearings, pins, and other joining parts, Polylock is also suitable for repairing worn fits.

Before application, all parts should be thoroughly cleaned. After curing, the joint is resistant to high temperatures, vibrations, oils, greases, and chemicals, and prevents loosening, vibration, and corrosion.

Information about anaerobic adhesives – retaining compounds

An anaerobic retaining compound creates a secure bond between closely fitting metal surfaces using an anaerobic adhesive. Typical applications include shaft-hub connections, bearings, bushings, sleeves, gears, pulleys, and cylindrical fits.

Anaerobic retaining adhesives are adhesives that cure in the absence of air and upon contact with metal. They fill the gap between cylindrical metal components, enabling them to transmit forces, reduce play, prevent corrosion, and permanently secure components.

“Anaerobic” means that curing takes place in the absence of oxygen. As long as the adhesive is exposed to air, it remains liquid. Curing only begins once it is confined between metal surfaces.

Anaerobic retaining compounds are used to fasten, secure, and seal cylindrical components. Common applications include bearing retention, shaft-hub connections, bushings, sleeves, bearing housings, gears, couplings, rotors, and keyways.

Threadlocker is designed for threaded connections and prevents screws and bolts from loosening. Retaining adhesives are intended for cylindrical assemblies, such as shafts, bearings, bushings, and hubs. Both product types cure anaerobically but differ in viscosity, strength, and gap-filling capability.

A bonded retaining joint can transmit forces across the entire contact surface, fill gaps, reduce micromovements, prevent corrosion, and simplify component design. This can often supplement or partially replace interference fits, keys, retaining rings, or weld points.
