Information on self-adhesive magnetic tapes
Self-adhesive magnetic tapes are flexible magnetic strips that are magnetic on one side and coated with an adhesive layer on the other. They can be easily applied to suitable surfaces and provide a practical magnetic fastening solution that can be detached when required.
Self-adhesive magnetic tapes are suitable for fastening, labelling, organising, and display applications. Typical uses include signs, displays, shelf labels, promotional materials, planning boards, exhibition stand construction, warehouse organisation, craft projects, and light-duty mounting applications.
Depending on the product, the adhesive side adheres to smooth, clean surfaces such as plastic, metal, glass, wood, cardboard, or painted surfaces. For a reliable bond, the surface should be clean, dry, and free from dust and grease. The magnetic side adheres to ferromagnetic surfaces such as iron or steel.
The magnetic connection can be detached and reused multiple times. However, the adhesive layer is generally intended for permanent bonding and can only be reused to a limited extent once applied. Depending on the surface, adhesive residue may remain after removal.
The holding strength depends on the tape thickness, width, magnetic quality, contact area, and magnetic counterpart. Adhesion is generally strongest on smooth, clean steel surfaces. For heavy objects or safety-critical applications, a particularly strong magnetic tape or an additional fastening method should be used.
The surface should be thoroughly cleaned and dried before application. The magnetic tape is cut to the required length, the protective liner is removed from the adhesive side, and the tape is pressed down firmly. For optimum adhesive strength, the bond should be left to set for some time before being subjected to any load.
