Temporary Protection
Corrosion protection is an essential part of maintaining metal surfaces, especially in industrial and commercial applications. Corrosion protection sprays with temporary protection offer an efficient solution for short-term protection of metals against rust and other corrosive influences. These sprays are ideal for situations where metals only need to be protected from corrosion for a limited period, such as during storage, transport, or between different production steps.

Information on Technical Sprays – Temporary Corrosion Protection
Temporary corrosion protection refers to time-limited protection of metal surfaces against rust, oxidation, and moisture. It is used when components need to be protected against corrosion during storage, transport, intermediate processing, or assembly.
Temporary corrosion protection sprays are suitable for the short- to medium-term preservation of metal parts, tools, machine components, spare parts, screws, moulds, workpieces, or vehicle parts. They are often used when the surface will later be processed further, assembled, cleaned, or painted.
The duration of protection depends on the specific product, the applied coating thickness, the substrate, and the environmental conditions. In dry indoor areas, the protection usually lasts longer than under exposure to moisture, weather, salt, or mechanical stress.
Many temporary corrosion protection sprays are designed so that the protective film can be removed when required. Depending on the product, this can be done using a suitable cleaner, degreaser, or solvent. Before further processing, the surface should be completely clean, dry, and free of residue.
Temporary corrosion protection is mainly used on metal surfaces such as steel, iron, galvanised metal, aluminium, or other metals. Adjacent materials such as plastics, rubber, painted surfaces, or seals should be checked for compatibility before application.
Important factors include the desired duration of protection, storage or transport conditions, material compatibility, removability, and subsequent processing. It should also be determined whether the protective film needs to be dry, oily, wax-like, transparent, or particularly easy to wash off.
